Reduction in the Quantity of Pig Excrement Using Enzyme Additives in Diet. Hiroya YAMATO. Eiji YAMAMOTO and Mitsunori SATO ( Fukuoka Agric. Res. Cent., Chikushino Fukuoka 818-8549, Japan) Bull. Fukuoka Agric. Res. Cent., 18: 126 - 130 (1999)
For the purpose of decreasing the quantity of pig excrement, research was carried out to detect the effect of using composite enzymes(Aspergillus niger var macrosporus, Trichoderma Koningi), plant cell membrane collapse enzyme(Aspergillus usamii mut. shiro‐usamii) and microcapsulated plant cell membrane collapse enzyme as diet additives on digestibility, excrement quantity, gain of body weight, feed conversion, carcass quality and feeding costs. 1)Dry matter digestibility of pigs being fed a diet with the addition of 0.2% a composite enzyme based on cellulase(A) was higher by 1.1% than that of the control. Excrement quantity of (A) decreased by 11% compared with the control. The feeding cost of (A) was higher than that of the control. 2)Dry matter digestibility for pigs being fed a diet with an addition of 0.2%(B) and 0.5%(C) of plant cell membrane collapse enzyme based on pectinase was higher by 1.9-5.7% than that of the control. Excrement quantity of (B) and (C) were significantly(p<0.01) lower by 11-41% than that of the control. The feeding conversion rate decreased by 0.1-0.3 as a result of increasing the additive ratio of enzyme. The feeding cost of (B) was lower than that of the control, but, that of (C) was higher than the control. 3) Dry matter digestibility for pigs being fed a diet with the addition of 0.5%(D) microcapsulated plant cell membrane collapse enzymes was higher by 6% than that of the control. The excrement quantity of (D) decreased by 43% compared with that of the control.
The results suggested that digestibility was improved and excrement quantity was decreased by being fed a diet with the addition of composite enzyme, plant cell membrane collapse enzymes and microcapsulated enzymes. Especially, it was effective to feed a diet with the addition of 0.5% microcapsulated plant cell membrane collapse enzymes.
